If anyone would like to cut out boy’s shorts or put a quilt top together please let me know. We will have a workshop on Friday, September 20, in the Fellowship Hall from 9:30 -11:30AM. Thank you to all our undercover angels working on our projects behind the scenes.
Finance — Vern Tryon
Account balances as of September 2, 2024:
- Current expense checking — $6,332.84
- Current expense savings — $28,321.66
- Capital campaign checking — $3,133.63
- Check book balance — $4,229.51
Our monthly income for August from all sources was below expectations by over $878 but our year-to-date income exceeded expectations by over $3,300. This is not unusual during the summer and it is not a cause for alarm.
August’s expenditures were $4,800 below projections and all program areas spent less than was budgeted. The year-to-date expenses were a bit over half of what was budgeted.
I am relieved to report that the problem with the IRS has been resolved and I received confirmation in writing.
Invitations have gone out for requests for the 2025 budget. I asked that they be given to my by September 20.
Carrie and Steve have made good progress in getting our financial secretary’s records moved to Tithe.ly. We are still working on bringing our congregation list up to date.
Please let me know if you spot any shortcomings or have questions about this report.
Worship & Music — Mary Lou Bjorkman
Choir returns in September!
This month’s choir member of interest is Nancy Prarie.
Some things you might not know about me. My favorite way to start each day is to let the Lord know His intent for my day. I repeat Psalm 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. He gives me abundance each day, especially in my church life. I get to sing in choir with talented people, I grow flowers to be placed on the altar in September and enjoy my flowers all summer. I got my wish to participate with our church family in the rummage sale upon retirement from the Oswego City School District. I get to participate each week in Bible Study, care for the church garden (all are welcome to help me in the garden), do our church mission work, bake, sew, and exercise. My life is blessed, and I thank all of you for your participation in our church family.
Administrative Council — Kathy Duschen

Operation Christmas Child
We will be sending boxes again this year. Our hope is to reach at least 100 like we did last year. If you have any shoe boxes please bring them to church. It saves the cost of buying boxes. We will wrap them to make them extra special. You can leave the boxes on the table by the attendance stand. We also, as always, encourage you to donate items or pack one yourself and add them to the ones we pack for the church.
Red Bird Mission
The Lawrences are again going to be delivering boxes and items to Kentucky after Thanksgiving to be given out as Christmas gifts in the Appalachian Mountains. These boxes need to be the plastic ones. I have 50 for us to send again this year. I will, after summer, put them out for individuals to fill on their own if you choose. Be looking out for bargains this summer. You can also get your own plastic container the size of a regular shoebox if you want. These boxes have no restrictions except they should be new items, useful as well as gift worthy packed for a specific gender and approximate age category.
Bulletin Board
Our next featured angel is June Tryon. Vern and the rest of the Tryon family, along with many of us, have provided some pictures for everyone to enjoy.
Love Bags
The Thursday morning Bible Study group has put together “Love Bags” to hand out to our unfortunate friends standing on corners or elsewhere that need a hand out and kind encounter. The bag is a gallon freezer bag. Our first batch of 20 have a granola bar, a pack of crackers, lollipops and candies, applesauce, pretzels, a bottle of water, a pack of kleenex with Bible verses on it and a homemade card with a handwritten note of love and kindness! If you have a desire to pass one on or would like to hear more about the program talk to Pastor or anyone in the Bible Study group.
