The message for Palm Sunday on March 24 at the Minetto United Methodist Church will be presented in word and song. The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Mary Lou Bjorkman, accompanied by Ernest Papay, will present a musical for Holy Week by Joel Raney entitled, I Am the Lord of the Dance.
[UPDATED: The recording of this service is now available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/YWiOPbQDRIo]
Based on Sydney Carter’s classic hymn, Lord of the Dance, the work elaborates the hymn, dramatically and colorfully portraying and retelling the story from John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life,” concluding with an exciting musical celebration of Christ’s victorious resurrection.
On Easter Sunday, March 31, the service will include the assembly of the traditional living floral cross that will be displayed after the service on the lawn in front of the church. Parishioners may bring their own fresh cut flowers although others will be provided by the church.
The services begin at 10:00 a.m. The church is located at the corner of State Route 48 and County Route 8, one block south of the Stewarts Shop, midway between Oswego and Fulton, in the village of Minetto. Its physical address for GPS purposes is 2433 County Route 8, Oswego, NY 13126. The mailing address is PO Box 217, Minetto, NY 13115. The church phone is 315-343-3465. The building is fully accessible.
