Harvest Dinner Opportunities

On September 7, 2015, in Events, by MUMC

turkeyOur customary Harvest Turkey Dinner is not far off — Saturday, October 17, 2015, serving from 4:00 P.M., via dining room, carry out, and drive-through.

Postal cards were recently sent to those who worked on the Harvest Dinner last year to ask about your availability to work and contribute this year. Please respond to Vern Tryon ASAP. Also, contact him if you did not participate last year but wish to this year.

It’s advantageous when people return to the same job they did previously, but each year we need new volunteers to do such things as:

  • Roast turkeys
  • Bake pies
  • Work in the kitchen on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday
  • Work in the take-out room during the dinner
  • Serve customers in the dining room
  • Help with a variety of set-up tasks the day of the dinner
  • Make financial contributions toward expenses

See Vern Tryon for more detail and to volunteer. (343-9692, 529-0120, or Vernon@Tryon.com)

Take a poster from the counter near the water cooler. Spread the word to your family, co-workers, & friends. Tell everyone you know. Word of mouth is our best advertising.

We depend upon the harvest dinner’s earnings to narrow the gap between our church’s income and expenditures. It typically accounts for about 4 to 5% of our annual current expense income. Over the 14 years since 2000, we have served 11,172 dinners for a total profit of $68,816, averaging $4,915 per year. The average profit per serving over that period has been $6.16.
