The select women’s vocal ensemble called, Concinnity, will offer a concert to the public on Sunday, May 19, at 3:30 P.M., at the Minetto United Methodist Church. The concert, Weather or Not: A Musical Meteorological Matinee, will invite a free will offering to be used toward the church’s capital campaign for maintenance projects.

Concinnity has been singing together for twelve years. They have sung at the Sterling Renaissance Festival annually and at various fundraisers and art openings, provided entertainment for numerous events, and have produced over eighteen concerts of their own. The songs they perform range from Broadway to Brahms and sixteenth century madrigals to current compositions.

This concert will include such well-known weather songs as Singing in the Rain, Four Strong Winds, Like to Sing About Sunshine and Let It Snow. (Please note: The snow songs are extremely limited in number: Central New York gets enough snow as it is!)

The church was organized in 1848 (165 years ago). The sanctuary was built in 1892 (121 years ago), the parsonage in 1922 (91 years ago), and the education wing in 1969 (44 years ago). Several maintenance projects have been completed or are underway, including sanctuary roof replacement, drainage, mold abatement, entrance ramp replacements, and window replacements in the education wing. The pipe organ was installed in 1914 and is still in regular use, although it needs to be thoroughly refurbished to prepare it for its second century of service.

So grab your coat and get your hat, and head on over to the sunny side of the street in Minetto on Sunday, May 19. The building is fully handicapped accessible and is located at the corner of State Route 48 and County Route 8, one block south of the Stewarts Shop, midway between Oswego and Fulton, in the village of Minetto.
